SBEM Calculations
The 2006 revision to Part L means that for the first time all new buildings will have to meet a target rate of carbon dioxide emissions. For buildings other than dwellings a new calculation process is required to assess both the target emissions and the proposed building emissions.
What is SBEM?
SBEM is the tool used to calculate the energy use and CO2 emissions of commercial buildings, in accordance with new energy performance requirements as laid out in Part L of the Building Regulations.
The limitation on SAP usage for Part L compliance for dwellings with total floor area of 450 m 2 or more has been removed and SAP, rather than SBEM, should be used for Part L compliance for such dwellings.
SBEM calculates the monthly energy use together with carbon dioxide emissions of a building through the input of the building's geometry, the construction methods used, and the use of HVAC (Heating Ventilating Air Conditioning) and lighting equipment which will be installed in the building.
The program can also be used to assess the 'asset rating' in accordance with the EPBD EU Directive.
BR Testing employ BRE qualified Competent Persons who are highly skilled technicians, able to produce SBEM Calculations in order to comply with current Part L regulations.
We pride ourselves in performing accurate, on-time and cost-effective calculations.
